Ideas by Sizzle in Montreal
Sizzle Popcorn has been to dozens of events since we launched in late 2018, and we’ve noticed a few things. Wanted to share the highlights and amazing ways popcorn has been used so far, ways it can be used and what made some events spectacular. Some of these ideas might be new for you and maybe you’ve seen the others in action, but I promise all of them are creative and fun! Feel free to use any of these simple ideas at your events.
Using The Power of Smell
At your next networking event or conference, tap into the opportunity of using Scent Marketing within the room. With the magical aroma of popped popcorn, it’s crazy how happy and positive it can make an atmosphere. When everyone is talking and connecting, the smell of freshly popped kernels will keep conversations alive and increase client linger times.
In bigger rooms, it's especially powerful. The excitement of eating popcorn can be an excuse to move on and meet someone new. We’ve all had those dry moments in networking, and I’ve watched them happen often. With the smell as an escape, new connections can be made.
Popcorn as a Piece of Decoration
Placing popcorn on the tables as a centerpiece is a great idea I’ve come across! Small piles of popcorn placed in random areas around the room is easy to access for guests, and makes snacking easy. When your retail store is opening and you want people to take their time looking, bags do the trick.
While waiting for more stock from the back, they can enjoy the wait at a table with a tiny snack. Sometimes people will come to my stand asking for seconds and thirds, after seeing all the bags at their table were taken. It’s the experience that matters, and the grand opening of your store should have even the smallest details of the sales process covered!
Offering Special Prizes
Using food to make the night unforgettable is an obvious idea, but only some can do it well. Match your new product with a special food item, and watch the crowd become excited. Each new car or sponsor can be paired with a special popcorn flavour, drink choice, or type of jewelry... and suddenly a personality is added to the cart.
The next time someone thinks of your store, they’ll think of the popcorn flavor they won. When they go home and eat popcorn again, they'll remember the time they saw your Grand opening!
Popcorn and Movies United
I have to include the obvious one: popcorn at a movie or music performance. Nothing makes people happier than seeing buttered popcorn waiting from them. The emotional response is timeless, and it’s rare to find something that gets people mentally prepared to enjoy a visual performance.
I really enjoyed watching people snack on popcorn as they compare their favorite film, song and actors- while having a small snack! There is nothing new about this idea, but it's always proven to work...and the statistics don’t lie! A launch party is where the crowd builds excitement after the show, and some ketchup or dill flavoured popcorn can perfectly end the night.
Low Carb Options Guaranteed
When opening a new bar, low carb foods are important to keep hunger at bay while customers drink. I’ve noticed that popcorn is great to hold onto, while sipping a beverage in the other hand. Conversation is easy to keep alive, and a few handfuls of popcorn in between breaths brings a nice pause...because we’ve all need to catch our breath sometimes!
With a low calorie snack to digest, people will feel happy to stick around for hours settled into a chair. The best part about this idea is the effect it has on the crowd: they came for the drinks and the bar atmosphere, and the last thing any organizer wants is a question about when food is coming. It's a small detail, but those are the ones that count the most!
These are just a few options. Whether you like to use popcorn at an event for its smell, prize opportunities or just an easy snack idea, these are just the beginning.
All in all Sizzle offers creative ways to add popcorn into your event that are truly unforgettable.
